I agree with Josh that right now there isn’t a huge bcafybae for Cena to handle as a heel. Punk’s line as a Heel-Face makes him a hard sell on either side. He’s similar to Cena in that respect, with two different types of fans having grossly different reactions to that. If Cena turned heel and continued his whole never give up / always kicking out after a finisher mojo that he has, how huge would a face be if they finally knocked off heel Cena? I could see Cena beating up on some faces for awhile, maybe even some of the heels but beating them through a DQ with a couple chair shots for no reason. Just to raise an aura of fear around heel Cena. Imagine if a Kofi or Evan Bourne came along and finally beat him at a PPV where he just seemed like he would crush said opponent. It would put over that wrestler as a legit face, set up a guaranteed rematch, and keep Cena’s heel run going for a few more weeks or months. Another pipe dream scenario, Cena running as a heel and “hurting” a lot of the faces, Taker returns and announces Cena will face his judgment at WM? Could be a huge match. To the point about lack of merchandise sales if Cena turned heel. I think that Cena’s eventual return to being a face would have an even greater effect on fans buying merchandise. Six months to a year of being a huge heel, Cena will still sell merch. Then he could pull a guest referee stipulation in a title match (at this rate, ANYONE could have the strap if that ever happened). Cena screws the heel (and Vince, HHH, whoever) and the baby face run returns. Rock and Austin always had legendary shifts from one side to the other thanks to hitting a finisher on Vince or accepting someone’s help that that had you begging to tune into Raw the next night. Cena has that potential.
